Taxodiaceae Plant Tissue Culture

Taxodiaceae Plant Tissue Culture

We use tissue culture fast propagation technology for
the propagation and utilization of Taxodiaceae plants, which is the most
effective way to preserve germplasm resources and solve seedling propagation.

Taxodiaceae is a family of woody plants belonging to the Pinales, with 10 genera and about 17 species worldwide, mainly in East Asia, North America, Central America, and Tasmania in the Southern Hemisphere. They are commonly used as ornamental trees in gardens, street trees, landscape forests, and protective forests.

Taxodiaceae plants are evergreen or deciduous trees with straight trunks and beautiful, upright shapes, and most species have high ornamental value. For example, Metasequoia glyptostrobides is a famous garden ornamental tree species, Taxodium distichum, Taxodium ascendens, etc. have spreading branches and leaves, and are rare species of aquatic ornamental trees for garden landscaping.

Some species of Taxodiaceae are fast-growing, saline, and wet resistance, and have strong wind resistance, which has more important application value in urban greening, coastal wind protection, wetland afforestation, saline land greening, riverbank forest belt construction, and other ecological environment construction.

Tissue culture service

Most of the Taxodiaceae species are mainly propagated by seeds and cuttings, but they often face difficulties such as lack of seeds and low germination rate. Moreover, the variability of live seedlings is large, and the excellent traits of the mother plant are not maintained. The rooting of cuttings is unstable and the survival rate of early planting is low. Therefore, Lifeasible provides the service of rapid propagation technology of Taxodiaceae plant tissue culture, which is an effective way to improve the reproduction coefficient of good parent trees, increase the growth of forest trees, and realize the afforestation of good asexual lines.

  • Culture system

We have successfully established a propagation technique using stem segments, roots, hypocotyls, and apical buds as explants to induce differentiation and rooting form healing tissues by tissue culture technique, and further, proliferate and from regenerated plants of Taxodiaceae plants. It can be used for the conservation, propagation, and promotion of Taxodiaceae species.

  • Culture medium

High MS is not good for Taxodiaceae plant organ differentiation, so we usually use 1/2 or 1/4 MS medium in culture and add a certain concentration of plant hormones to induce rooting.

  • Additives

GIn is also often used by us for direct organogenesis in Taxodiaceae plants. We also add VB2 and AC to the medium to reduce the rate of dead top, reduce the amount of adventitious shoot healing tissue, and improve the rooting rate of test tube seedlings.
