Lycium Plant Tissue Culture

Lycium Plant Tissue Culture

The red fruits of the Lycium plant are dotted among the green leaves

Lycium plants belong to the Solanaceae family of deciduous shrubs, with about 80 species worldwide, mainly in South America, and a few species in the temperate zones of Eurasia.

Many species of Lycium plants have medicinal value and are considered to be good pioneer plants for wind protection and sand fixation and land salinization because of their strong salt tolerance and biological drainage ability. In addition, Lycium plants have green leaves, purple flowers, red fruits, and beautiful shapes, and can be cultivated as green trees and bonsai with high ornamental value. Artificially planted Lycium plant is also an economic tree species with a high yield and good income.

Tissue culture service

Due to the deterioration of the growing environment and over-collection, the wild resources of Lycium have been damaged to some extent in recent years. The germination rate of Lycium plant seeds is low under conventional conditions, therefore, Lifeasible has established a suitable tissue culture system based on the seed germination characteristics of the Lycium plant for rapid propagation.

  • Lycium ruthenicum Murr.
  • Lycium brevipes
  • Lycium barbarum L.
  • Lycium barbarum var. auranticarpum
  • Lycium dasystemum

Lifeasible has established a tissue culture system for isolated stem tips and leaves of Lycium plant seedlings of good varieties and has the best solution for the regulation of different hormone ratios during proliferation and growth of Lycium plants, rooting traits, and transplanting of regenerated plants. Our Lycium plant tissue culture system is fast, low cost, and suitable for production applications, and is ideal for the propagation of superior strains.

In addition, Lifeasible can treat Lycium plants in a variety of culture methods to meet your research needs.

  • Endosperm culture

Endosperm cells are also "totipotent" and Lifeasible has been able to induce triploid plants through endosperm isolation culture to obtain new seedless, large-fruited Lycium plant varieties. Currently, we have successfully obtained endosperm plants of different ploidy.

  • Haploid culture

Lifeasible has obtained haploid plants on Lycium plants by pollen and anther culture, which is important in Lycium plant variety selection and arrest transmission analysis.

  • Polyploid culture

Lifeasible induced Lycium plants at tetraploid level (2n=4x=48) and triploid level (2n=3x=36) by in vitro culture of Lycium plant endosperm.

  • Single-cell cultures

Lifeasible has established Lycium plant cell lines, performed single-cell isolation cultures, and induced the formation of complete plants, which are important for Lycium plant research and variety improvement.

  • Protoplast culture

Lifeasible obtains Lycium plant protoplasmic healing tissues from newborn young leaves, seed hypocotyls healing tissues. Protoplast culture can be used for cytological studies of somatic cell hybridization and gene transformation.
