HLVd and Virus Identification

HLVd and Virus Identification

For Hop latent viroid (HLVd), a virus commonly infects Humulus lupulus, searching for a simple, accurate, rapid, and sensitive assay is essential. Lifeasible can provide a more accurate, reliable, sensitive, and rapid service for the identification of HLVd, as well as a solution for the detection of other plant viroid.

What is HLVd

Plant virus diseases have become the second most important disease in agricultural production. Once a plant is infected with a virus, the consequences can be devastating, ranging from reduced yields to crop failure. HLVd belongs to the family Pospiviroidae, genus Cocadviriod. HLVd has a narrow host range and mainly infests plants such as Humulus lupulus, Humulus japonicus, and Urtica dioica. When Humulus lupulus is infested by HLVd, it generally does not produce obvious symptoms, but some secondary metabolite components are mainly altered. This affects the quality of Humulus lupulus, reduces the yield of Humulus lupulus, and brings some losses to the production.

What We Offer

Plant virus diseases are essential factors restricting the safe production of crops. HLVd is mainly spread through asexual propagation materials and agricultural operation tools. Because HLVd is extremely small, invisible, and intangible to the naked eye, it is easy to be ignored in the early stage of occurrence. Once it occurs, there is no agent to effectively treat it, making it the most challenging type of disease to prevent and control on crops. We have established a comprehensive HLVd detection system that will assist in seedling production, introduction, and germplasm exchange, and help you prevent the spread of HLVd. For other common viruses, we also have appropriate detection programs.
