The Gesneriaceae family is diverse, with about 150 genera and more than 3,500 species worldwide. Eastern and southern Asia, Africa, southern Europe, Oceania, South America to Mexico, and other tropical to temperate regions are the main distribution areas.
Gesneriaceae plants have high ornamental and medicinal values, but due to the narrow distribution area of many species of Gesneriaceae plants, coupled with the interference of human activities in recent years, many Gesneriaceae plant habitats have been damaged and are endangered. Therefore, it is imperative to strengthen the conservation of Gesneriaceae plants.
The selection of explants is one of the key factors for the success of plant tissue culture. Differences in age, developmental stage, growth environment, and location of explant donor plants can lead to differences in the physiological status of the explants, thus affecting the morphogenesis of tissue culture. Currently, the materials used by Lifeasible in the tissue culture of Gesneriaceae plants are flower buds, pedicels, bracts, petioles, stem segments, stem tips, axillary buds, young leaves of adult plants, etc. Under suitable culture conditions, the explants germinate to form healing tissues, which in turn form buds, and then succeed in re-root and finally emerge as seedlings.

Existing tissue culture methods for Gesneriaceae plants are generally divided into three stages: primary induction differentiation, the secondary proliferation of clumped shoots, and roots, and each stage requires a specific medium for cultivation, which in turn leads to the rapid propagation of sterile seedlings from healing, adventitious shoots, clumped shoots, and finally rooting.
However, the three different culture stages create cumbersome and complicated problems for the fastidious propagation of Gesneriaceae plants. Therefore, Lifeasible provides a one-step tissue culture method for rapid propagation of Gesneriaceae plants, which enables the rapid propagation method to complete the three stages of tissue culture of Gesneriaceae plants with only one medium and high rates of healing induction, adventitious shoot differentiation, clumped shoot proliferation and rooting.
