Seed Cryogenic Storage Services

Seed Cryogenic Storage Services

Seeds lose vigor as they mature in storage, and since seed vigor affects germination rates, it's important to find storage solutions that reduce the loss of seed vigor. Lifeasible offers long-term cryogenic storage for your valuable germplasm resources, and our cryogenic storage program can also utilize tissue culture techniques to clean and restore your germplasm.

What is Seed Cryogenic Storage?

For the seed industry, the storage problem has always been the focus of consideration. Although there are many methods of crop seed storage, most of the effects are not very good and, to varying degrees, will be affected by the external environment. Therefore, to save seeds for a longer period, and in the process of storage, to maintain their good vitality, they still need to rely on professionally sealed low-temperature storage to store.

Seed cryogenic storage services

Generally speaking, the preservation methods of germplasm resources mainly include dry and sealed preservation, low-temperature preservation, off-site preservation, germplasm library preservation, nature reserve preservation, germplasm resource nursery preservation, in vitro seedling preservation, ultra-low-temperature preservation, ultra-dry seed storage and so on. At present, the construction of germplasm resource banks is the more popular and stable low-temperature and low-humidity preservation technology program.

What We Offer

During storage, seeds can be preserved for longer if they are kept cryogenically modified and the temperature and humidity of the environment in which they are stored. We can save your valuable germplasm in our germplasm bank. We have temperature and humidity control equipment in the library and offer short-term, medium-term, and long-term storage programs according to the storage period.

  • Short-term storage. The storage temperature is controlled at 10°C to 15°C and relative humidity at 50%-60%. Seeds are packed in paper or cloth bags and can generally be stored for about 5 years. It can be used as temporary application material for identification, research, and distribution.
  • Interim storage. The storage temperature is 0°C to 10°C, and the relative humidity is below 50%. Seeds are packed and sealed with moisture-proof material. Seeds are stored at about 8% moisture for more than 15 years. Seeds are saved primarily for use as distribution material.
  • Long-term storage. The library temperature is 10°C to -20°C, relative humidity is 30% to 50%, and seed moisture content is 4% to 6%. Seeds are packed in aluminum boxes aluminum foil plastic sealing, or vacuum sealed. The storage period is 50-100 years. Long-term storage, generally not for distribution, when the distribution of material is finished, can be used as propagation material extraction, also known as the basic library.
  • Duplicate off-site storage. Because it is dangerous to store all the seed resources in one place, we will separate a part of the seed and place it in another place for duplicate storage as a precautionary measure.

Advantages

  • Our cryogenic storage program gives you production flexibility, enabling you to respond quickly to market demands and better meet consumer preferences while preserving and protecting your valuable germplasm resources indefinitely.
  • Tissue culture propagation and secure off-site storage through a trusted third party like us means that you have access to clean, robust varieties whenever you need them, giving grow managers, executive management, and investors peace of mind.
