Oleaceae Plant Tissue Culture

Oleaceae Plant Tissue Culture

Oleaceae plants

The Oleaceae family is widely distributed in temperate, subtropical, and tropical zones, with more than 600 species in 29 genera. The trees of the Oleaceae family are graceful and have beautiful foliage. Some of these species are highly resistant to toxic gases and are excellent anti-pollution trees.

Many species of this family are ornamental trees, some species have special economic value, and some species are high-quality timber trees. Such as Jasminum nudiflorum, Chionanthus retusus, Jasminum sambac, and other ornamental value plant groups.

Tissue culture service

Traditional propagation techniques suffer from small propagation coefficients, slow speed, long cycle time, and low survival rate, which are far from meeting the market and research needs for seedlings. And the tissue culture system provided by Lifeasible can solve some problems of Oleaceae plants in the traditional propagation methods. Moreover, the culture process is not subject to seasonal and climatic factors, saving land, fast and high quality.

The species of Oleaceae plants that have been successfully tissuing cultured

  • Fraxinus excelsior
  • Fraxinus bungeana
  • Fraxinus americana
  • Fraxinus velutina
  • Fraxinus mandshurica
  • Osmanthus fragrans
  • Forsythia suspensa
  • Syringa oblata
  • Syringa reticulata
  • Syringa pubescens
  • Fontanesia fortunei
  • Ligustrum robustum

  • Selection of explants

The explants used by Lifeasible in the culture of Oleaceae plants are mainly of three types, namely, stem segments with shoots, embryos, and young leaves. The exosomes with buds are more suitable for fast in vitro propagation of forest trees, and most of the Oleaceae plants that can be propagated in vitro can use stem segments with buds as exosomes, so stem segments with buds are the most common exosome materials we use in tissue culture of Oleaceae plants.

  • Basic culture medium

The media commonly used by Lifeasible during the tissue culture of Oleaceae plants are MS, B5, WPM, LMc, DKW, Monnier, DCR, GS, and QL. However, the media used may also be different when culturing different explants of the same plant.

  • Phytohormones

IAA, IBA, NAA, 2,4-D, 6-BA, and TDZ are all phytohormones commonly used by Lifeasible in the tissue culture of Oleaceae plants, and different ratios can regulate the growth and development process, differentiation direction, and organogenesis of the cultures.
