Sagittaria subulata "Pusilla" Dwarf arrowhead

Sagittaria subulata "Pusilla" Dwarf arrowhead

Catalog Number
AP-0052
Common Name
Dwarf arrowhead
Description
The Dwarf arrowhead stays lower than the "standard" form of Sagittaria subulata when it is grown under the same conditions. With lavish nutrient and CO2 supply, it reached a height of about 15 cm in our aquariums, otherwise it should remain lower in most cases. It is very well suited as a grass-like, undemanding ground cover, also in "low tech" tanks without additional CO2. Sagittaria subulata "Pusilla" grows most luxuriant in nutrient-rich substrate and with CO2 addition, the light demand is moderate. However strong lighting, moderate nutrient supply and rather low CO2 concentration contribute to low growth. The plant also tolerates hard, slightly alkaline water. The optimum temperatures are 18 to 28℃; temperatures below 10 and up to 30℃ are tolerated. For planting, single plants with some space to each other are spread over the provided area. With time, they grow together with their underground runners. Too lush stands should be thinned out, also a deep trim close to the bottom surface is possible. In the foreground of warm and cold water aquariums, Sagittaria subulata "Pusilla" is a robust ground cover. With its low demands, it is recommended for aquarium beginners and for the initial planting of new tanks. It is also interesting for North America-themed biotope tanks. Occasionally its floating inflorescences with nice white flowers may appear at the water surface.
