Description
Rotala macrandra 'Mini Type 4' is a small-leaved delicate red variant of Rotala macrandra. The leaves are longish-ovoid to roundish. This plant appears like a miniature version of the broad-leaf, long known regular form of R. macrandra.
As well as other forms of the South Indian species Rotala macrandra, 'Mini Type 4', also spelled 'Mini Type IV', grows best with strong lighting, rather soft water, CO2 concentrations above 20 mg/L and temperatures between 24 and 28℃. A regular, well-balanced macro- and micronutrient supply via the water column is important. The stems are best planted into a group, with a little space to each other. As well as other stem plants, this Rotala is propagated by cuttings of the stem tips and side shoots.
A group of Rotala macrandra 'Mini Type 4' is a real eyacatcher in the midground to background of the aquarium. This quite delicate plant is also suited for relatively small tanks. With its red colouration, it contrasts well with light green plants.
