Common Name
Roraima milfoil
Description
A new milfoil for larger aquaria, assumed to originate from the Brazilian state of Roraima. When cultivated under water, this fine-leaved plant takes on a beautiful orange-yellow to brownish-red colour. It grows fast and is easy to cultivate. It probably is a local form of Myriophyllum aquaticum. Its emerged shoots have blue-green strongly water-repellent leaves typical for Myriophyllum aquaticum. When planted into a tank, they soon develop into their reddish-brown submersed form and soon start growing again. This milfoil from Roraima is best used as large bush in the back- or middle ground of large tanks. As fast grower, it can be used for first planting new tanks. Myriophyllum sp. "Roraima" can be cultivated as house plant on the windowsill and you can even keep it outside during the warm season. Its emerged stems float on the water surface or creep along wet ground.
