Lagarosiphon cf. cordofanus

Lagarosiphon cf. cordofanus

Catalog Number
AP-0843
Description
This attractive, fine-leaved stem plant is recently spread in the aquarium hobby under the name Lagarosiphon cordofanus. However it differs from the L. cordofanus that was cultivated as aquarium plant for many years. Therefore we name the plant provisionally Lagarosiphon cf. cordofanus. We do not have information on its origin. In contrast to the classic Lagarosiphon cordofanus, this plant has reddish stem tips, especially with strong lighting. It features a loose growth habit and ramifies well. Apparently Lagarosiphon cf. cordofanus is moderately demanding and grows quite fast. The plant thrives especially well with strong lighting and good CO2 and nutrient supply. As well as other stem plants, it is easily propagated by stem cuttings. We have noticed vulnerability to applications of hydrogen peroxide. This plant, related to the waterweeds (Egeria and Elodea), looks very decorative as a bush in the midground to background. Its fine, dense foliage has light, golden green to reddish tones.
