Description
Spectra' is a slowly, but steadily growing Echinodorus cultivar. Its submerged leaves show a wide spectrum of colours that range from light green, pink and purple to yellow and orange. Its coloration depends on the growth conditions and is especially intense with high lighting levels. The plant reaches a height of about 40 cm.
As most sword plants, Echinodorus 'Spectra' is mostly delivered by the nurseries in its terrestrial (emersed) form, with rather inconspicuous green leaves. Once planted in the aquarium, submerged leaves will appear, showing the full splendour of this plant.
As well as virtually all Echinodorus, 'Spectra' grows best with abundant macro- and micronutrient supply via the substrate. Strong lighting with high red component enhances the intense coloration of the submerged foliage. The water parameters are of subordinate importance, however CO2 supply promotes the growth.
Echinodorus 'Spectra' is recommendable as a solitary plant in the background, in larger tanks also in the midground.
