Echinodorus 'Red Chili'

Echinodorus 'Red Chili'

Catalog Number
AP-0126
Description
Echinodorus 'Red Chili' is an especially pretty, rather small swordplant cultivar, apparently resembling Echinodorus 'Hot Pepper'. The submerged leaves are narrow, almost linear, and brightly red. The plant reaches a height of about 20 cm. It is mostly delivered in its emersed (terrestrial) form with very different, long stalked, green leaves. Planted into the aquarium, it will develop new submerged leaves with the described look. As well as other Echinodorus, 'Red Chili' grows best with a nutrient-rich substrate. At least moderate light intensity is recommendable; more light enhances the red coloration. 'Red Chili' stands out from other red Echinodorus cultivars by its narrow leaf shape and rather small size. It can be used in smaller tanks and looks best as solitary plant or small, loose group in the midground, in larger aquariums also in the foreground.
