Description
Harbich' is a long known Echinodorus cultivar, often also spelled 'Harbig', 'Harbii' or 'Harbych'. It reaches a maximum height of about 25 cm but stays small and compact under water, and it grows slowly. Its leaves are roundish and heart-shaped. Good lighting provided, its newly appearing leaves show red-brown tones. The plant is usually delivered in its terrestrial (emersed) form, with considerably longer stalked leaves. Planted into the aquarium, it will develop its shorter stalked submerged foliage. Later the old emersed leaves can be removed.
Echinodorus 'Harbich' has no special demands on the water parameters but should be well supplied with macro- and micronutrients via the substratre. Also a well-lit, open place is recommendable. The favourable temperatures lie between about 22 and 30℃.
With its round leaf shape, this small Echinodorus provides an interesting accent in the aquarium. It looks best as single plant or small group in the midground to foreground.
