Description
At the moment, there is only a little information available about the Echinodorus cultivar 'Granat'. It forms narrowly elliptic leaves with predominantly light green colours and red-brown spots. Newly appearing underwater leaves show an attractive light brown-red ground colour and a dark brown spot pattern. The longitudinal nerves are lighter coloured. Apparently it is a medium-sized cultivar that reaches a height of about 30 cm.
As well as virtually all swordplants, Echinodorus 'Granat' benefits much from a nutrient-rich substrate. CO2 addition enhances its growth but is not always necessary. A well-lit open place in the aquarium is recommendable. Occasionally inflorescences with adventitious plantlets and nice white flowers may appear on the plant.
Echinodorus 'White' is an attractive swordplant cultivar that looks well as a solitary plant or small, loose group in the midground, in smaller aquariums also in the background.
