Description
Altlandsberg' is a beautiful Echinodorus cultivar that was bred by Tomas Kaliebe in the 2000's at the former aquarium plant nursery Atlantis. It is named after the town Altlandsberg near Berlin that was the location of the nursery. The emersed leaves of Echinodorus 'Altlandsberg' show a striking dark-red pattern along the midrib. The submerged leaves are pink-red colours. This plant grows rather slowly and reaches about 40 cm height.
As well as virtually all Echinodorus, 'Altlandsberg' grows best with abundant macro- and micronutrient supply via the substrate. Strong lighting enhances the intense coloration of the submerged foliage. The water parameters are of subordinate importance, however CO2 supply promotes the growth.
Echinodorus 'Altlandsberg' is recommendable as a solitary plant in the midground to background. As the aerial leaves have a striking dark red pattern, this cultivar is also interesting as emersed plant for paludariums.
