Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Rubella'

Catalog Number

Description
This especially pretty Cryptocoryne wendtii form from Sri Lanka was originally named C. wendtii var. rubella. Already cultivated for decades, it is little known in the hobby today, at least by name. Its elongate underwater leaves have a reddish coloration with light longitudinal veins and dark cross stripes. The leaf margin is slightly rippled. As well as other Sri Lanka crypts, C. wendtii "Rubella" is an easy, adaptable aquarium plant, also growing in harder water. It also tolerates little light but develops better with medium lighting. A nutrient-rich bottom is important. The plant develops a dense stand by its underground runners. Cryptocoryne wendtii "Rubella" is very decorative as a group in the midground, in bigger tanks also in the foreground.
