Description
This attractive water trumpet is delivered with the label Cryptocoryne × purpurea, however there are indications that it actually belongs to the variable Cryptocoryne cordata var. siamensis. Nevertheless this Cryptocoryne is remarkable by its special marbled pattern. The stronger nerves are darker than the intermediate leaf tissue.
Previous experience shows that this plant gets only about 10 cm high in aquariums and grows slower than many other Cryptocorynes in aquaristics. The leaves grow spreading. Therefore "Purpurea" is also suited as group in the foreground. It does not have special demands, but a nutrient-rich bottom is recommended.
