Description
Ceratophyllum demersum 'Foxtail' is a decorative form of the Rigid Hornwort that was found during a Tropica expedition in a small tributary of the Guaporé river at the border between Brazil and Bolivia. As well as the long known normal Ceratophyllum demersum it is a very fast growing plant. The Rigid Hornwort or Coontail has a nearly worldwide distribution, especially in nutrient-rich waters. Ceratophyllum species do not have roots, they grow planted in the ground as well as free floating below the surface.
The Rigid Hornwort can be used for cold as well as tropical tanks and is recommendable for initial planting. It absorbs excess nutrients very quickly, which makes it a great ally for battling algae. It is also very recommendable for fish and shrimp breeding tanks.
