Description
"Velvet Tricolor" oder "Velvet 3 Color" is a small, narrow-leaved Bucephalandra that is said to be found in the Sanggau area in West Kalimantan (Indonesian part of Borneo). Its exact locality and species belonging is unknown to us. We propagate this Bucephalandra in our aquaria for more than one year. Its linear leaves have a blade of about 30 × 4.5 mm and a 5 mm long petiole. The margin is slightly curled, the tip blunt with a short, needle-like projection. Young leaves are light brown-red, later changing to dark brown-green. The 1.5 to 2 mm wide rhizome is much ramified, causing a dense, bushy growth habit. Grown submerged, the plant reaches a height of about 6 cm Until now our plants have not yet flowered.
