Description
"Biblis Short Dark Green" is a small Bucephalandra form with distinctly creeping growth habit and dark olive green colours. Its exact locality and species belonging is unknown to us, but as all Bucephalandras, it occurs on rock along streams in Borneo. We propagate this Bucephalandra form in our aquaria for more than one year.
The rhizomes are quite much ramified and grow horizontally. The rather soft, elongate, nearly linear leaves have a blunt tip, wedge-shaped base and are short stalked. They are about 2.5-3 cm long and 7 mm wide. The leaf edges are slightly wavy. The upper sides of the leaves show olive green to brown-green tones.
As well as other Bucephalandra forms, it is best used as epiphyte on rock or wood, however it can also be fixed to the ground, provided that the rhizome is not buried. It is easily propagated by cuttings. Medium lighting, good CO2 and nutrient supply and water current are recommendable.
Bucephalandra sp. "Biblis Short Dark Green" is a versatile small plant for the hardscape, interesting for its low, prostrate, bushy growth. It is also small enough to be used in nano aquariums.
