Catalog Number
AP-1147
Description
This small form of the Glabrous Anubias descends from a light yellow to yellow-green variegated plant that got known as Anubias glabra Variegated 'Small Leaf' or also Anubias minima 'Dragon Claw'. However the plant is medium to dark green without variegation, which is why we call it 'Small Leaf'. Its very narrowly lanceolate leaf blades get at most 3 cm long. The plant also features a dense growth habit. Anubias species and forms are known for their low demands and also thrive in low light aquariums without additional CO2. However they developed the best look with complete macro- and micronutrient supply via the water column and CO2 addition. Then they can also be kept with stronger lighting. The optimum temperatures lie between about 21 and 27℃. The forms of Anubias barteri are epiphytes in the first place that can be fastened to hardscape materials. They also grow on the ground, however the rhizome should not be buried, otherwise it may rot. This dwarf form of Anubias barteri var. glabra is best placed on wood or rock in the aquarium midground. Its small size also makes it suitable for nano aquariums.
